Call for Submissions

WritersMarket.com lists thousands of magazines covering everything from child care to farming. Here are three literary magazines currently looking for submissions:

Antioch Review is one of the oldest continuously published literary journals, and it’s also one of the few remaining holdouts for postal submissions. This journal accepts submissions of essays, short stories and poetry. Payment is $15 per printed page and 2 contributor copies.

Confrontation is another print literary journal that prefers postal submissions—with an exception made for writers living outside the U.S. This journal also accepts essays, short stories and poetry. Pays anywhere from $5-300 for accepted work.

Tin House accepts submissions by post, but the editors also offer the opportunity for writers to submit their work online via Submishmash. Submissions are accepted between September 1-May 1. Payment ranges between $50-800 for fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
