WritersMarket.com lists hundreds of writing contests for writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, writing for children, journalism, and more. Here are three with November deadlines:

The Bancroft Prizes are awarded in two categories (American history and diplomacy) for books published in the previous year. First place in each category wins $10,000. Deadline: November 1.

The Donner Prize is awarded to the best book on Canadian public policy of the previous year. Prize is $30,000 for the winner, and $5,000 for other short-listed authors. Deadline: November 30.

Vassar Miller Prize in Poetry is offered for the best unpublished collection of poetry by the University of North Texas Press. First place wins $1,000, plus publication. Deadline: November 15.
