Call for Submissions

WritersMarket.com lists hundreds of writing contests for writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, writing for children, journalism, and more. Here are four with December deadlines:

 

The Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards annually honor books which contribute to the understanding of racism or appreciation of the diversity of human culture. This award for published books is $10,000. Deadline: December 31.

Annie Dillard Award in Creative Nonfiction is offered for the best creative nonfiction. Prize is $1,000 for the winner. Submission open up on December 1 and run until March 15.


Five Points James Dickey Prize for Poetry is offered for the best previously unpublished poem. Prize is $1,000, plus publication. Entries must be postmarked by December 1.

Pavement Saw Press Chapbook Award is offered for previously unpublished poetry chapbooks (up to 32 pages). First place wins $500, plus publication and 50 copies. Deadline: December 31.
