Book Market

Now that you have completed your book and it’s on the way to being published, you want to start (if you haven’t already done so) formulating ways to market a book. Seeing that you are trying to make a profit, it would be self-defeating should you spend large amounts of money in your efforts to sell the book.

Utilizing free ways to market a book will no doubt strengthen your campaign because they will save you money. The money you save can then go towards those not so economical marketing techniques that are sure to bring a return on your investment. Choosing creative and inexpensive marketing strategies can bring in sales without breaking the bank. Here are four ways to market your book for free.

Library Press Release – Are you a member of your local library? If you don’t already have one, get a library card from your local branch. Once your book has been published ask the branch manager to issue a press release in the library system’s newsletter. Being published in the newsletter will immediately put your book in front of the right people. Those readers can easily request that the library secure copies of your book for them to check out or they will purchase copies for themselves. Either way, you are increasing your book sales with an easy way to market a book.

Create a Fan Page on Facebook (this is a great online viral marketing tool). It’s popular because it works. Facebook is by far the currently most popular social networking site to date. It’s free to join and you have control over your privacy settings. You can also market a book by purchasing advertising to FB’s five hundred million plus members.

A definite must is to create a “Fan” page. This is as viral as it gets. Once someone becomes a fan of your book all of their “friends” will be see your page when they visit their friend’s profile. Fans can also suggest you page to all of their friends. Facebook allows you to market a book on any budget.

Celebrity Association – Discuss a celebrity in detail on your blog or author website and your page will come up in searches associated with the person. This is a very clever way to market a book. Select a popular celebrity and mention this person’s name on the home page of your website. Be creative.

This will bring up your site in searches for that individual. Though it might not necessarily bring in targeted readers, it will build your name and you could quite possible gain a few new readers based on them reviewing your website. Another way to market a book involves mentioning a celebrity associated with your book topic.

Book reviews are great ways to market a book and increase book sales. When formulating your book marketing plan include a creative way to use book reviews. A good book review can land you on a best seller list or put you into the seven figure bracket for sales profits.

What is your current or planned use of book reviews? Are you submitting your book to websites, book groups or newspapers? Focus on connecting with any group associated with your book’s genre or its subject matter. Once you’ve identified these resources, reach out to them and try to establish a relationship that will help market a book and create multiple sales.
