Words are powerful tools. They serve their purpose by reaching out and touching those who read them.

Stories and articles are only as powerful as the words used to create them. Articles can be filled with word after word of mindless chatter, or they can contain key words and phrases that pull the reader in and captivate their attention.

Emphasize Key Points

Key points should be emphasized throughout the story. They drive home the point and give the story a purpose. No matter what type of story you are trying to tell, its purpose is to allow the reader to relate to the situation at hand.

You want them to know the history behind the event, why things are happening and what the eventual result will be. Being able to pull out the important aspects of the story is what gives it its power.

Tying together all of the main events and allowing the reader to believe they are a part of the action is what gives the story its presence and power.

Stories should educate the reader in some way and encourage them to think for themselves. Key points can be used as guides for the reader to follow and discover the hidden nuances of the story that are held within its words. As they read they continue to learn and explore on their own.

Choose the Right Words

The right words add meaning and depth to a story. Stories that are written for marketing purposes should be descriptive as well as intriguing. You, as a writer, want to make people feel like they are a part of what’s happening.

The closer they feel to a topic, the more likely they are to purchase a product or use a service. The right words add power and substance. They are the difference between an average story and a great one. The more powerful a story is the longer it will be remembered by those who read it.

Several words can be used to relay one distinct meaning. Choosing the right words helps key points stand out. The right words and phrases are also beneficial when trying to elicit an emotional response from the reader.

A powerful story is designed to cause a reaction on the part of the reader. You want them to feel compelled to act in some way or to appreciate what is being discussed.

The right words can create a picture that is so unique and interesting, the reader feels they must act or at least acknowledge the situation at hand.

Rely on Emotion

The right words at the right time are designed to create a response. Writing a story with passion and commitment can bring about an emotional response from the reader that makes them want to return to the story.

Part of the power of words is to be able to draw people back to them over and over again. When a person reads a passage and connects with it on an emotional level, they are more likely to remember the key points as well as the concepts the story is trying to showcase.

Creating an emotional response means using words that cut to the heart of the matter. A powerful story is one that is direct and to the point.

Descriptions and anecdotes make the reader empathize with the characters and what they are experiencing. Emotion binds them to the story. Readers will be more responsive to stories that are written from the heart and carry a message that is meant to enlighten and inform.

Powerful stories are written not only with words, but with heart and spirit as well. They must be able to reach out through the words and attract the undivided attention of the reader.

Specially chosen words add style and an extra bit of depth to a story that entices the reader to continue reading.
