IT is a hugely popular industry, with job opportunities available all over the world. If you’re looking for an IT-related job, why not consider the Far East? Of all the Asian destinations, Singapore makes an excellent choice because it’s highly developed, offers a high standard of living and, much like the IT industry itself, it’s fueled by innovation and technology.

SAP positions, in particular, are in high demand, as they require a specific skill set and experience. If you’re thinking of going east, here are some reasons why you should consider Singapore.

It’s a city-state of modernity

According to The Telegraph, Singapore is all about innovation. This is most obvious when you see its architecture and design. Singapore has some jaw-dropping constructions, such as the SkyPark, which has an infinity pool the size of a football pitch and the world’s largest cantilevered platform. There’s also the Singapore Flyer, which is a huge replica of the London Eye, and which offers spectacular views of the city. Singapore is also one of the most connected places on the planet, as it has one of the world’s highest penetrations for computer ownership and Internet usage. Free Wi-Fi is available in all public spaces.

It offers a high standard of living

If you manage to land a job in Singapore, you’ll enjoy a first-rate lifestyle. According to The Telegraph, Singapore is a land of extreme wealth, as it has more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in the world. It used to be considered only good for a brief layover, but it’s steadily transforming into a long-term destination. Singapore also has first world efficiency: public transport runs on time, the health service is top-notch, education standards are extremely high, and the Chinese, Malay and various ex-pat groups live in harmony, with ethnic strife unheard of (and racial slurs punishable by imprisonment, caning, or a fine) OrientExpat.co.

Everyone keeps in line

Safety is a global concern, but you don’t need to worry about that in Singapore. According to Travel.CNN.com, Singapore is one of the safest places in the world. There are incredibly strict drug laws (which include the death penalty), and crime is taken very seriously. In Singapore, there are no issues about walking around late at night or using public transport after dark; it’s even safe for children to do so. According to OrientExpat.com, there are a number of strict laws that everyone adheres to, including getting ten years for drunk driving. There are also less serious offences that are considered law breaking (and lead to stiff fines), including chewing gum, littering and jaywalking!

Singapore is a great place to live, either on a contract-basis or for the long-term. It offers an organised, clean and safe environment, with a high standard of living and a multi-cultural experience. It’s also very technologically focused, which is ideal for anyone in the IT industry. Apply for an SAP job in Singapore, and experience the best of the Far East.
