When it comes to getting professional photographs of your family, it can take some planning on your part. You do not want to simply show up to the shoot without having first developed a clear picture in your mind as to what you are looking for. Finding the right studio to take your pictures is the first step in getting the perfect photo. You have to be weary of falling prey to a glamour shots scam by looking at the studio’s work and talking with others who have used their services. Once you have chosen the right studio, you can get to work on creating the perfect portrait.

What to Wear?

A really popular trend in family photos is to place everyone in matching outfits. While this can be cute if done right, it is not very unique anymore. Pictures of the family in jeans with white t-shirts on the beach have been done to death. It is understandable that you would want a photo that makes the family look together and perfect, by why not put a twist on the classic shot? Pick a color scheme for the photo and then allow each family member to pick out their own outfit with the colors in mind. This will allow each person to express their own style and personality while still creating the one-unit look to your pictures.

Where to Go?

The next thing you will need to decide is where you want the picture to be taken. This will vary greatly depending on how large your family is and how old your children are. For example, many people choose to have their picture taken indoors if they have a newborn, while families with older children may want some adventurous outdoor photos. Think about the motivation for getting these photos. If you are using them for a Christmas card or announcement, then a studio shot with a themed backdrop or props may be the best option. If you are looking for something to hang in your home, think about the colors you want in the picture and then decide if they will best be represented inside or outdoors.

A Memory in Time

Family portraits can be great mementos of another time. They forever capture the essence of your family that you can then enjoy for years to come. Don’t just buy into stories of a glamour shots scam, do the research for yourself and find the best studio to help you get the perfect photo of your family.
