Becoming an egg donor is a vastly rewarding experience that takes a lot of time and effort on your part. In order to help out a couple that wants to have children, you must first put yourself through physical and psychological exams so that the doctors and couple know you are in good health. While you are waiting to be chosen you will be on fertility medications for a few weeks.
These medications need to be injected daily and you will also have to schedule and commit to routine doctor visits for ultrasounds and blood work. Prior to egg retrieval you may need to abstain from having sex because you are highly fertile and your eggs may release on their own during that time.
Be sure to talk with your doctor about the entire process so you know what to prepare for in terms of any side effects from medicine or the egg retrieval procedure. Read the infographic below to learn more about how you can become an egg donor.
