Once when I was in Junior High School in Los Angeles and again during a very hot summer in an insurance agency here in Connecticut.

Strange timing?  Perhaps. Keep reading for three extremely simple tips on the best way to lose weight quickly.

Best Way to Lose Weight Step 1: Cardio

During my JHS years in Los Angeles, the LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) was on a year round school system.  This meant that the students were divided into four groups called tracks.

When three tracks were in session, one track would be on vacation for six weeks.  So went the rotation.  Always one track out of school and always three in school. When one returned, another would be out.  I hope that didn’t confuse you too much.  On with the story.

During one session that my track was out of school, a friend of mine was determined to lose weight.  She was a beautiful girl, very smart and friendly.  But like most girls that age, there was something she wanted to change about herself.

Nicole (not her real name) was a little chubby and wanted a slimmer body.  Upon returning to school after our six week hiatus, Nicole came back to school slim and trim.  Everyone was pleasantly surprised and praised her accomplishment.

Yes, you read that right.  Six weeks.  I have no idea how much she lost, but the results spoke for themselves.  What did she do?  I hope you’re sitting down for this.

She walked the track every single day without fail.

You can walk, jog or even run if you’re feeling ambitious.  Your body burns lots of calories this way and promotes circulation which is helpful in cleansing your blood.

You don’t necessarily have to do this every day, but at least four days every week will make a difference.  You don’t have to go to the gym or even walk around a track.  You can walk around your neighborhood, your yard or even your living room.  For my ambitious readers, look into a treadmill.

Best Way to Lose Weight Step 2: Drink plenty of water every single day

Jump forward to my early adult years working in commercial insurance.  The Northeast has suffered through its share of deadly heat waves during the summer.

One particular summer was overwhelmingly hot.  There were news reports of people fainting from the heat and advisories were issued to keep windows closed and pets inside.

In an effort to keep hydrated I increased my water intake.  Normally I strive for half my body weight in ounces of water.  During that hot summer however, I went from drinking 60oz to close to 96oz of water daily.

Not only was I properly hydrated, but my skin was the clearest it has ever been my entire life and guess what else? I lost weight.

That was not my goal, nor was I too happy about it, but I took notice.  This is best way to lose weight in a week.

On average, the rule of thumb for daily water consumption is supposed to be half your body weight.  If you weigh 150lbs, you should be drinking 75oz a day.

With this in mind, my suggestion (based on my weight loss discovery during that disgustingly hot summer) is to drink 75% of your body weight. Grab a reliable water bottle.

Understand that you will urinate a lot more.  Make sure you will be in a position to use the bathroom frequently.  Another bonus of increased water consumption is the cleansing of your blood.  Combined with daily cardio circulation, you will see noticeable changes in your health, your skin and your mood.

Best Way to Lose Weight Step 3: Have a salad for dinner

What is exercise and proper water consumption without a modified diet?  Don’t worry this won’t be too crazy.  If you don’t already do so, try to eat three meals a day.  If you aren’t very active and you have a flexible schedule, then two meals a day will be sufficient.

Here’s the trick to better eating to lose weight.  Don’t eat past seven o’clock and replace your dinner with a salad.   It will take some getting used to, but you’ll LOVE the results.

If you like to snack, start buying grapes or cashews!

Having a light meal filled with veggies, will prevent the nightly heaviness that comes with a solid dinner.  You can have cereal and fruit for breakfast, whatever you want (within reason) for lunch and then a salad for dinner.

Let’s recap.  What is the best way to lose weight?  Walk every day, drink plenty of water and replace your regular dinner with a salad each night.
