While obesity is a common problem in the United States, there are some businesses that seem to be benefiting from the increase of obesity in America. In the United States alone, around two-thirds of individuals 20 years-old or older are currently considered obese. Obesity is typically determined by the BMI of each individual. BMI stands for Body Mass Index, and individuals with a BMI of 25 or higher will usually be considered obese.

With such a high obesity rate, there are many people looking to make a difference so that the obesity rate can decline. However, in the meantime, there are some businesses that seem to be benefiting from the increase.

Food business, plus-sized clothing businesses, and weight loss businesses seem to be thriving because of the increased obesity rate. Millions of dollars are going into the medical-related businesses as well, and it is because obese individuals tend to have more medical problems than someone who is at a healthy weight.
