Juicing fruits and vegetables is the key to a healthy diet. We all know that eating fruits and vegetables is important. This has been confirmed by such health organizations as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Center for Disease Control, and the National Cancer Institute. An abundance of fruits and vegetables in the diet reduces the risk of developing such chronic diseases as cancer, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.

Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs) for fruits and vegetables may vary according to gender, age, and lifestyle (physical activity) of individuals. In general, 4 to 5 cups should be consumed daily. Some health professionals recommend 7 daily servings of vegetables and 2 daily servings of fruit. This may seem like a lot, but there are ways to accomplish this dietary goal without stressing out.

How to Consume 4 to 5 cups of Fruits and Vegetables in One Day

Start with breakfast and consume the RDA of fruits and vegetables throughout the day. No one expects 4 to 5 cups of fruits and vegetable to be eaten in one meal. One to 1 ½ cups, however, can be reasonably consumed at one sitting. Snacks can consist of another ½ cup.

One of the best ways to consume the RDA for fruits and vegetables is to juice them. In this time period in which we live, our  schedules do not allow us to sit around leisurely munching 5 cups of carrots daily. Juicing fruits and vegetables is ideal for today’s busy lifestyle. It also offers the following benefits:

  • Fresh fruit juice and vegetable juice contain the richest food source of minerals, vitamins, and enzymes.
  • Juicing fruits and vegetables enables the body to quickly and easily assimilate the many valuable nutrients contained in them.
  • Juicing fruits and vegetables enables the body to assimilate active enzymes that would be destroyed if the fruits or vegetables were cooked.
  • The quick assimilation of fruits and vegetables helps the body to detoxify against environmental toxins.

Excessive Consumption of Processed Foods Leads to Illness

Most Americans don’t have a balanced diet. Cheeseburgers, pizzas, and fried chicken are the norm in most cases. Snacks include chocolate chip cookies, potato chips, and pretzels. Ice-cream is consumed in abundance and anything that seems to be healthy is really not healthy at all if you scrutinize it closely.

Processed foods are very hard on the body’s digestive system and, many times, are void of necessary nutrients. If the food does not provide the body with needed nutrients, they are gained from stores in the body’s tissues. Nutrients for detoxifying the body are also gained from the body’s reserve. Chemicals that cannot be detoxified are stored in the liver, bones, fat, and other tissues. Chronic diseases are often the result of stored toxins in the body. Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to detoxify and rejuvenate the body.
