This post is dedicated to my friend Dwayne, who has far too many misconceptions about my home state of Connecticut.  This CT Breakdown provides a few facts and our state map (with a NJ twist) to help you get the picture of what each county is known for.

Just the facts ma’am

  • Our most recent accomplishments: CT residents can no longer promote Amazon products, liquor is now sold on Sundays and the clothing under $50 tax exemption was repealed. Yes, you did sense a hint of sarcasm there.
  • CT ranks number 4 in number of millionaires.  Don’t believe me?  Ask Christopher Meloni (of Law & Order fame), Diana Ross, Tommy Hilfiger or 50 Cent.
  • CT has 8 counties, 5 major cities with over 100K residents (Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury).  Storrs, home to UCONN students, has the smallest population with just over 15,000 residents.
  • The Great Escape – Fairfield County is only a 45 minute train ride away from Grand Central Station in NYC.
  • Last but certainly not least, inner city New Yorkers refer to CT as “The Country”???  Please visit Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford for your reality check.

Now that you’ve learned a few things and hopefully had a good laugh, take a look around our site.  We’ve got great resources for every walk of life.  If you enjoyed this CT Breakdown, share it and leave a comment in the box below!
