It is hard to imagine what life today would be like without all of the modern inventions. One of the many modern-day items that most people cannot live without is the computer. People use their computers to work, go to school and research information. The first operational programmable computer was invented in 1941 by Konrad Kuse. The Internet was invented in 1973 by Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn.

The cellphone is another item that most people cannot go one day without. The first cellphone was invented in 1973 by Martin Cooper. The first cellular, or 1G, network was launched in Japan in 1979. The second generation, or 2G, network was launched in Finland. The first SMS message was sent in 1993.

Many people rely on their cars to get them from point A to point B. The first car was invented 1885. Seat belts were invented in 1956, and airbags were introduced in 1974.
