Summer months bring sunshine, warmth, activities and for many, happiness.  As a kick off to our upcoming months of grandeur, here are a few lifestyle tips that you can use now and well beyond summer.

Two things you can do today to start improving your health:

  •  Get more sleep – Why? Because when you sleep your body heals and when you awake your mind is much clearer.  Try getting to bed earlier.
  • Drink more water – Simple? Yes.  Effective? Definitely.  Adequate daily water consumption flushes toxins out of your body, clears up your skin and helps you maintain a healthy weight.

Two tips you can use this week to add more romance to your life:

For all the single ladies and gentlemen who are tired of being single:

  • Go someplace where you know you’ll meet like minded people.  If you like being active join a meet up group.  Locally, here in Norwalk we have www.bucketlistbunch.com.  By the way, what’s on your bucket list?  If you’re a faithful churchgoer – visit a different church each weekend this month.
  • Do you have your eye on someone already?  Strike up a conversation. There’s nothing like missed opportunities to create a world of regret.

For all the couples (married and dating) to spice things up a bit:

  • Create a list of at least 10 things you absolutely, positively LOVE and adore about your partner and share them with him or her over breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  • Do something different together. Take a dancing class, a cooking class, an art class, a local tour or a road trip.  Have a midnight picnic.  When was the last time you two took a simple walk together?

Two simple but extremely effective tips that all my jobseekers can do right now to improve your job search.

  • Get a professional cover letter and resume or at least a critique. Why are you applying for jobs with a resume you know is lacking?  Check craigslist.org for local and cheap resume writers.  Ask you librarian about any free resume assistance that’s available.
  • GET ON www.indeed.com!  If you’re not on Indeed, you’re not serious about your job search.  What’s so great about them?  They compile jobs from practically every other jobsite so you don’t have to monitor 10 different websites each day.

One thing you can do right this second to improve your credit score:

  • Order your annual free credit report from all three credit bureaus by calling 1-877-322-8228.  Yes it’s really free.  Guess what?  You can’t fix something if you don’t know what the problem is.

For all the artsy, creative types who are trying to brand and market yourselves, here are 3 solid tips you should jump on (if you’re not already doing them).

  • Get a WordPress website.  It’s easy to learn and as you know, the internet is far reaching.  .Org sites mean you pay for your hosting and .com sites are free but come with the WordPress extension i.e. http://yoursitename.wordpress.com.

  • Join a social media site.  Everyone and their mother are either on Facebook or Twitter or both.  Yes, you have a few clowns on both sites performing their hearts out but these platforms are still a great place to meet and communicate with the right people.
  • NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK.  No man or woman is an island.

Now a little something for everyone.  LIFE!  LIFE! LIFE!  You should be living it to the fullest or trying to get there.  Here are 5 great tips to improve your quality of life this week – or today if you’re up for it.

  • Start taking care of your health.  Emotionally, mentally, spiritually and of course physically.  You need your sanity and a healthy body to be happy.
  • Learn to let go sometimes.  Many of us (present company included) hold on to things that just aren’t doing us any good.  And the grief is so not worth it.
  • Enjoy, appreciate, value and cherish the little things.  Laugh and smile more.
  • Be yourself and do the right thing.  Let’s hope this is not an oxymoron for any of you.  The world is full of players.  I watch these people and wonder if they aren’t exhausted.  It takes a lot of energy to sabotage another person.  Stop making life difficult for other people.  Stop being a jerk.  Stop spreading hurtful gossip.  Listen to your conscience for once and just Get a Grip.
  • Identify areas of your life you want to change and stop at nothing to make it happen.  Have some faith already!  Believe in yourself!  Trust in a Higher Power!  Take action! Make It Happen!  Say these words out loud right now: I like myself.  Now look in a mirror and say it again.  I bet you smiled.
