Following the news earlier this month that the house in which Roald Dahl was born and raised is on the market for £1.45 million, we took a tour throughout the United Kingdom in search of other historic and famous houses that have been put up for sale over the past twelve months.

Amy Winehouse’s Ex-House

The property that gained the most media attention following the news it was to be sold was that of late singer Amy Winehouse.

The London home in which the musician died from alcohol poisoning and spent most of her career as a famous singer in, was sold last December for a whopping £1.9million. The four-storey house is semi detached, with a large garden, a soundproof music room and three bedrooms.

The home, situated in Camden, is now somewhat of an unofficial shrine for fans of the legendary musician to pay their devotions and respect to.

Posh and Beck’s Ex-Home

Few would argue with the assertion that David and Victoria Beckham are akin to royalty in Britain. The house they lived in from 2001 to their move to Madrid in 2005 is up for sale, giving wealthy members of the public the chance to emulate the superstar couple.

Hollinshead House in Cheshire boasts five bedrooms, a mosaic-tiled swimming pool, a boot room and a playroom. It is a Grade-II listed building with gorgeous rural views.

The Beckhams have of course almost doubled the price of the property, with it now going for £2,250,000, despite being bought by Posh and Becks for £1,250,000.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ex-House

Another Cheshire home, Cristiano Ronaldo’s place of residence while he played for Manchester United is on the market for a mere £965,000! Now if you know how to calculate rental yield, you’ll know that this property is attractively cheap to rent (for such an infamous home of course).

If you’ve got money to splash and are looking for a bachelor pad roundabout the North West of England, the former home of Ronaldo is an ideal choice.

A five-bedroom home, with four reception rooms, a dining kitchen and a conservatory, the house is hidden amidst greenery, offering a wonderfully secluded feel.

John Lennon’s Ex-Home

Arguably the most beautiful of the homes mentioned in this article is John Lennon’s Tudor-styled mansion. It is also the most notorious, with the former Beatle’s legend being one of the most famous Brits of the twentieth century.

Both the magnitude of John Lennon’s fame and the beauty of the home, is reflected in the house’s staggering £15 million price tag.

The gorgeous home looks over the Surrey Hills and sits amidst 1.5 acres of fabulously designed gardens. A swimming pool, six reception rooms and six bedrooms also features in the home John Lennon shared with his first wife.

Whether or not the prospect of residing in the same house a Beatles member once lived in is enough to splash £15 million is a debatable. However, for those with such money to spend it is undoubtedly a great house option for those looking to purchase a flash place in the South East.
