The Perfect Birthday Gift

Buying gifts can be tricky.  You have to think about what gifts you can afford, what will make them special, if the recipient will like it, where you can get them from and how you can show you have really thought about the present.

I am a bit of a shopping expert, working as a personal shopper in a large retail store, so here are a few tips I give to my clients that come looking for birthday or anniversary presents for their family and friends.

  1. Something shiny – Jewellery and timepieces are always fantastic presents. Right now silver is hugely in fashion and it can be picked up quite cheaply, especially online. Avoid rings unless you know the exact size and stick to necklaces and bracelets.  One of the best gifts to consider are ones which can be built on over the years, so you could choose a bracelet and buy new charms for other special occasions, or earrings and build up a gorgeous set over the years.
  2. Something to wear – I think it’s a nice idea to buy something special to wear so I am not suggesting a new top or pair of jeans.  Instead think of a special coat, some lingerie if buying for your partner or a beautiful accessory such as a bag, pair of shoes or even a hat or hair piece. The problem is you will need to do some detective work here, check you have the sizes of their outfits and pay attention to the colors they wear often so you know it will fit in with their wardrobe.
  3. Something to consume – Drink and food will make a good gift but it can look a bit boring or seem as if it’s just a last minute idea. To make it more thoughtful pick out a hamper or make your own. Add their favorite types of food, and don’t feel you have to buy chocolates if they don’t have a sweet tooth. You can always impress with delicious fruits and condiments from around the world. Always pick organic and high quality if you can afford it.
  4. Local delicacies – Treat your friend to a sample of the best items found in your area.  You could treat them to locally made ales, honey, clothing, art or pottery. Make a small collection and present in an attractive gift bag stuffed with colorful tissue paper.

These are four great ideas, and they can all be found even on a small budget. Show your friends and family you care by impressing with thoughtful yet affordable gifts that can be cherished and enjoyed.

This is a guest post. Collecting Pandora Charms is a wonderful idea and they make amazing gifts for people of all ages. Start a collection and watch it grow.
