Never has the trend of “going green” been more prevalent or easy to accomplish. There are many ways in which you can incorporate this environmentally friendly living into your everyday routine. We all know about recycling and limiting the amount of waste we produce, but there are many other ways that you can save the planet. This is especially easy with regards to your finances; the Internet has made it extremely easy to be green from the ability to conduct your banking needs online to efile taxes.

Online Banking

One of the easiest ways to be environmentally conscious with your finances is to utilize your bank’s online banking. You can make it so you no longer receive paper statements that are weeks behind your spending. Instead, you can constantly view your up-to-date statement online and track your spending that way. If you are fond of the statements, you can still have them sent to your email. It will save paper by not receiving the statements through the mail and it is more convenient as your banking information is always at your fingertips.

Paying Bills Online

Banks are not the only ones who offer paperless correspondence; many businesses offer the same option. Set up your accounts for your bills so that you receive email notifications of due dates and fees and then utilize the website’s pay online option. Not only will this allow you to quickly pay your debts it will also provide you will all the documentation of your payment (usually in the form of an emailed conformation).

Perhaps you already pay your bills online but you are still receiving the paper statements every month. Look under the settings and options on your account to see if there is an option for paperless statements. If you are having difficulty finding them, call their customer service number and request that you receive notifications by email.

Tax Time

No longer do you need to prepare piles and piles of papers in order to file your taxes. You can now efile taxes right on your own computer. This not only is good for the environment—again with that paper saving—but it also will make the process a lot less painful. The efile programs are designed to make filing your taxes as effortless as possible, they want to be convenient.

Keeping Mother Nature in mind when conducting your daily life does not have to be  difficult. You can seamlessly incorporate these green living techniques into your life.
