With all of the options out there, sometimes it can be difficult to realize that you’ve found the person you’ve been looking for. It’s true what they say, when you know you know, but just in case you need a bit of help seeing what is right in front of you, we’ve got you covered.

Here are four ways to tell you’ve found your one true love.

You can be yourself around them. At the beginning of a relationship, both parties are on their best behavior and do their best to avoid revealing their flaws or negative sides to their personalities. But when you are truly in love with someone, you let your walls down and aren’t afraid to be yourself, even if you aren’t perfect. You feel safe and secure revealing the sides of yourself that you generally keep hidden. They make you feel comfortable enough to be completely real.

They encourage you to be better. The people who are closest to you can influence you in negative or positive ways. Your soul mate won’t try to change you, but they will be such a positive impact in your life that you can’t help but want to be a better person for them. Perhaps they challenge you or have awakened a side to yourself that you didn’t even know existed. Whatever it may be, you are a better person just by knowing them, and vice versa.

You are best friends. A strong friendship is at the root of any healthy romantic relationship. When problems in your relationship arise you will always have your friendship to fall back on. Sometimes life isn’t always like a fairytale, but being able to say that you genuinely enjoy your partners company and being able to relate on multiple levels will establish a foundation that ensures your partnership will endure through the good and bad times.

You communicate well and often. The strongest relationship are those where the couple talks, and talks…and talks! There is no such thing as too much communication in a relationship. When you’ve met your soul mate, you will feel comfortable discussing everything and working towards your goals as a team. It’s not always easy to have an open door policy with the one you love, but each conversation you have will strengthen your relationship and you’ll find that you have less fights or issues to work out because of your rockstar communication skills!
