Finding Love – in the Country

If you’re a farmer then you’re probably well acquainted with the difficulties of not being able to find love. Most farms are more than a little isolated and you might find yourself spending most of your time on the farm rather than meeting new people.

A farm is a big responsibility so you might not have time to get out every day, go to bars at night or even to go out every day to try to meet new people. Most importantly, bars aren’t the best place to meet a new partner anyway, so you should look for a better option.

So how can you find love? Dating farmers have more than a few options to find the right guy or girl, and here are a few of them that you can consider.

Look Online

Probably the easiest place for dating farmers to find a special someone is the internet. Because you can connect with anyone, instantly, you can find someone in your area or across the world. Usually you should choose a site made especially for farmers or for people interested in dating farmers so that you know they won’t have a problem moving out to your farm should things become serious.

Most of the time online dating sites allow you to set certain criteria including age, gender, religion and distance from your location. Settings are a great way to ensure that you’re finding the person you’re looking for so that when you do find someone you’re interested in you won’t be disappointed about them not being available or what you thought they were.

When you meet people online, make sure that you meet them in a public location first. Voice verification and video chat are also great ways to make sure you’re meeting the person you think you’re talking to. Safety is very important, especially when you’re dating online.

Get Involved With Other Farmers

Chances are there’s a farm nearby and maybe even right next to yours. Go over, get involved and talk to people. If you already know them, try a farm you don’t know. You’ll meet new people and even if you don’t find a love interest, you can certainly make new friends and maybe learn new things.

Many farms also have seasonal workers meaning that new people might be coming and going all the time. You can meet up with them as they come and if you strike it up, they just might not leave.

Do Things in Your Community

Is there a local fair you can compete in? How about a club for a hobby or sport you do? If you ride horses you can join a horse riding club and probably meet some great new people; if you shoot guns you can do the same thing. There are clubs and communities for everyone, even in small towns and rural areas so look around and you might just find the person you’re looking for right in your back yard.

If you can’t find anything in your exact local area, try driving one town over or etc. You’ll have a chance to meet even more people and as a once a week thing, it won’t require too much of your time.

Great ideas include horseback riding, kayaking or canoeing, hunting, bird watching, a book club, coin collecting or etc. You’re sure to find someone who is interested in the same things as you, even if you have to start the club yourself.

Basic Rules

In the end, if you want to meet new people then you have to get out and talk to them. Whether you do this by talking to everyone, joining a club or convention or taking part in local communities and events is up to you.

Remember that a smile can go a long way towards making a good impression, even if you aren’t overly confident or sure of yourself. Just be yourself, relax and treat each person as a new opportunity, even if they just end up being friends.

Finally, have fun, be confident in yourself and don’t be afraid to say hi. A rejection is better than never knowing, especially when there aren’t a lot of people to meet in the first place.
