But did you know that some of the world’s greatest inventions were actually created and developed by Irish people? We all know that Arthur Guinness is associated with the creation of one of the world’s best known alcoholic brands, but what about some of the other lesser known inventors of Irish descent and their creations which revolutionised the world?

Did you know that Robert Percival, a professor of Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin, created soda water in 1800? Or that a man from County Cork, Humphrey O Sullivan invented the rubber sole by attaching a piece of rubber to his feet to alleviate the pain of standing all day.
