These days people don’t talk much about BlackBerry when it comes to smartphone because android and iPhone are leading by a great margin.

RIM which is now known as BlackBerry was started the career for messaging apps on the smartphones.

Its BlackBerry Messenger BBM was very popular among smartphone users but now it’s all about WhatsApp and many others.

Google recently updated its messenger app i.e. Gtalk with a new improved one known by Google+ Hangouts.

So now BlackBerry is also planning to launch its earlier popular messaging app for android and iOS platforms.

Though now it’s very late for BlackBerry to announce its BBM for android and iOS but it can still become popular due to its reliability and features which people liked earlier.

Because people didn’t have option to use BBM on their iPhone and android smartphones so they switched to other messaging apps. This is the reason where BlackBerry failed. If they had provided users with the BBM in starting then users should not have gone for WhatsApp.

But now BlackBerry has confirmed that BBM is coming for android and iOS this summer. The app will use its earlier BBM PIN to create profile on BBM and this will be a cross platform app i.e. it will run together on all three operating systems i.e. iOS, Android, BlackBerry 10 and previous BlackBerry OS.

BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins said, ““We’re committed to making the BBM experience on other platforms as fully featured as we can, We’ll start with messaging and groups, but we’ll add voice and screen share later on. BB10 is such a strong platform that we are confident it can become an independent messaging solution.”

People who still have their most of the friends with BlackBerry devices will prefer using BBM app on their android or iPhone to stay connected to their friends. This can help BlackBerry Messenger in starting to get a boom in download numbers.

BlackBerry developers had already proved that they can still compete with android and iOS by developing BlackBerry 10 OS which was launched in the starting of this year and no doubt they will develop BBM in a best way too.

One major thing that developer need to look is that they need to keep the app very simple and it should look impressive too. Otherwise users have got lots of options to choose.

Features like instant messaging will be there with feature of message delivery status. BBM for android and iOS will also allow users to share photos, videos and any other file at higher data speed. If BlackBerry keep this app working fine on all three platforms then it will be best for the success of this app.

Let’s see what BlackBerry brings to their upcoming BBM app for android and iOS. I just hope that it works for BlackBerry as I personally use a BlackBerry device and want to stay connected to my friends who are either with android smartphones or iPhones.
