Those who have failed to join the social media craze known as Facebook are missing out on some epic failures. While the site boasts huge followings and rankings for its social success, it’s proved to be problematic in its handling of serious matters of privacy. There have been some serious setting compromises that have left users angry or unaware as their private information was made public.

The first major privacy failure of Facebook occurred in 2009. The network privacy settings were reset without warning, leaving many users’ information visible to anyone with an interest. A subsequent privacy breach occurred when the friends only mode failed to present all personal information from being shared with third party applications.

In 2010, a third major privacy failure occurred when the site was found to be sharing user information with online giants. It’s a user beware situation when you post anything because the site has a track record of ignoring your privacy wishes.
