Top 5 Mini Laptops

Mini LaptopsThe newest rave is all about mini laptops, anything up to 10.1 inches. These are typically called Netbooks. They are different from tablets in that they are really a mini laptop, with keyboard and all.

Ratings vary by the reviewers and what uses you require. The top 5 I have found most commonly mentioned in reviews, in no specific order, are the following:

Asus Eee PC 1025C

This laptop has a small lightweight frame. The long battery life makes this great for on the go people. It is one of the lightest mini laptops available, and has the longest battery life. It packs a 1.66 GHz processor, comparable to the other Asus and HP laptops.

Storage on the hard drive is basic 250 GB, the same as the other top models except the Acer Aspire AO756-2626 which has 500 GB (amazing in such a tiny package!). Random access memory does lack in the Asus at only 1 GB; HP and Acer step all over it with 2 & 4 GB respectively.

HP Pavilion dm1-4310nr

The HP has no bells and whistles to make anyone go crazy over it. But it performs quickly and quietly in the corner, doing exactly what it was built to do. The battery life is only out ranked by the Asus 1025C.

It is very lightweight, has the common 1.6 GHz processor & 250 GB hard drive with 2GB RAM. It will easily satisfy your on the go computing needs. The price point here is much higher than the rest of the top mini laptops.

Acer Aspire One

500 GB hard drive, and 4 GB RAM makes this one much better for storage and makes up possibly for the low 1 GHz processing speed. Because of the awesome memory it is a bit heavier than some other mini laptops at 3.2 pounds.

But, that less than half a pound, could mean the difference in the storage and RAM you need. The performance and hardware are less of a sacrifice from regular laptop to mini laptop. If you can’t give up everything in a laptop, but you need portability this is the answer.

Asus EEE PC X101CX

This Asus has great battery life, but the single GB of RAM and no high definition tend to drop its rating. It will not process as fast as many of the comparable models, if you are a huge multi-tasker this model will feel very sluggish to you.

It has a very small scale keyboard that will take some getting used to by new mini laptop users. The pixel count and resolution are not as high as other top models. But it does conserve battery life.

Asus EEE PC 1025CE

The CE has a metal finish. The highlight of this model mini laptop is that it has a HDMI out slot, an access slot for RAM and a 3 week standby. The unique thing it has, is a webcam cover and 4X zoom capability. It has both 2.0 and 3.0 usb ports and sleep charge. This does stand out with the 500 GB hard drive and 1.8 MHz processor.

There you have them all, the good, the bad, the ugly. Well, they aren’t ugly. And it is just a matter of choosing how you will use a mini laptop, then going through the features and decide which is perfect for you and your needs.
