Windows has offered a few smartphones previous to the release of Windows 8, however I feel that they’ve finally nailed it. These latest Windows 8 phone releases are storming the market fiercely. We’re talking the perfect operating system and correctly sized smartphones. When combined with the hardware of 2012, these phones are absolute game killers.
Considering Windows 8 smartphones are fairly new to the market we are going to select three of our favorites. The Nokia Lumia branded Windows 8 smartphones are the most popular, as they have four different models for consumers to choose from.
HTC Windows Phone 8X
At present time, the HTC 8X Windows 8 smartphone leads the market in terms of hardware specifications. It’s one of the more recent releases from HTC and assumingly is a top seller. It runs on a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor alongside 1 GB of RAM. Users can store up-to 16 GB of applications and media on its internal flash drive.
The display is a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 with a 1280-by-720 pixel resolution. Surprisingly, that comes out to 342 pixels-per-inch – more than the iPhone 5. In terms of the camera, the back-facing component takes 8 megapixel shots while the front takes 2.1 megapixel photos (better than any Windows 8 phone).
Nokia Lumia 822
Another recently released phone, the Lumia 822, sports similar hardware as the HTC 8X smartphone. It too has a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM. The flash storage drive holds up-to 16 GB, which can be expanded to 64 GB with a MicroSD card.
The display is a glossy 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED that is covered by strong Gorilla Glass 2 technology. This phone will come at a discount though because of the toned-down 480-by-800 pixel resolution. On the bright side the back-facing camera is 8 megapixels while the front boasts 1.2 megapixels.
Similar to all Windows 8 phones, the Lumia 822 is produced in an assortment of different colors. Just select a color that defines you.
Nokia Lumia 920
Residing as Nokia’s flagship phone is the Lumia 920. It only hit the market a few weeks ago but this 4.5-inch curved glass display smartphone seems to have the attention of consumers. This has built of last year’s great sales of the Lumia 800.
Furthermore this smartphone comes with 32 GB of flash storage and a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB RAM. It seems like these processing specifications are standard across the board. Even the 8 megapixel back-facing camera and 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera is similar to all other Windows 8 phones.
Those Are Our Picks
Well, we hoped you enjoyed our picks for the best Windows 8 phones. We assure you that many other Windows 8 phones will be released over the coming months if the same pattern as last year is followed. In fact, the Samsung Ativ S will launch this upcoming December.
